It also details facial recognition tech that acts both as an ID system and maps users\u2019 expressions onto emojis.<\/p>\n<p>One tech writer said it was the biggest leak of its kind to hit the firm.<\/p>\n<p>Apple is holding a launch event at its new headquarters on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The California-based company takes great efforts to keep its technologies secret until its showcase events, and chief executive Tim Cook spoke in 2012 of the need to \u201cdouble down\u201d\u00a0<a style=\"font-style: inherit;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/technology-18260265\"><strong>on concealment measures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Some details about the new devices had, however, already been revealed in August, when Apple published some test code\u00a0<strong>for its HomePod speakers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>But while that was thought to have been a mistake, it has been claimed that the latest leak was an intentional act of sabotage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs best I\u2019ve been able to ascertain, these builds were available to download by anyone, but they were obscured by long, unguessable URLs [web addresses],\u201d\u00a0<strong>wrote John Gruber<\/strong>, a blogger known for his coverage of Apple.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomeone within Apple leaked the list of URLs to\u00a0<strong>9to5Mac<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>MacRumors<\/strong>. I\u2019m nearly certain this wasn\u2019t a mistake, but rather a deliberate malicious act by a rogue Apple employee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neither Mr Gruber nor the two Apple-related news sites have disclosed their sources.<\/p>\n<p>However, the BBC has independently confirmed that an anonymous source provided the publications with links to iOS 11\u2019s gold master (GM) code that downloaded the software from Apple\u2019s own computer servers.<\/p>\n<p>GM is a term commonly used by software firms to indicate that they believe a version of a product is ready for release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore surprises were spoiled by this leak than any leak in Apple history,\u201d Mr Gruber added.<\/p>\n<p>Apple could not be reached for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Several developers are still scouring the leak for new features, but discoveries so far include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a reference to iPhone X, which acts as fresh evidence that Apple intends to unveil a high-end model alongside more modest updates to its handset line<\/li>\n<li>images of a new Apple Watch and AirPod headphones<\/li>\n<li>a set-up process for Face ID \u2013 an alternative to the Touch ID system fingerprint system \u2013 that says it can be used to unlock handsets and make online purchases from Apple, among other uses<\/li>\n<li>the introduction of Animoji \u2013 animated emoji characters that mirror a user\u2019s captured facial expressions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It marks the second time in three months that the company seems to have been deliberately caught out by a staff member.<\/p>\n<p>In June, an hour-long recording of an internal meeting \u2013 ironically about stopping leakers \u2013\u00a0<strong>was passed onto the Outline news site<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It revealed that Apple had hired ex-workers from the US National Security Agency (NSA), FBI and Secret Service to help catch tattletales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have faith deep in my soul that if we hire smart people they\u2019re gonna think about this, they\u2019re gonna understand this, and ultimately they\u2019re gonna do the right thing, and that\u2019s to keep their mouth shut,\u201d one senior Apple executive was heard to say.<\/p>\n<p>One company watcher said that the scale of the leak meant Tuesday\u2019s launch had lost some of its power to surprise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be an unbelievable effort within Apple to determine how this happened and I don\u2019t envy the person that did it because there will be no forgiveness for it,\u201d commented Ben Wood from the tech consultancy CCS Insight.<\/p>\n<p>But he added that it was unlikely to affect sales or interest in the new devices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor other companies this might have huge impact on the effectiveness of their grand official launches, but for Apple there is such insatiable demand for even the smallest details and such an obsessive fan-following of is products that even a very detailed leak will do little to dampen the enthusiasm of bloggers and others to report its news,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Details of new iPhones and other forthcoming Apple devices have been revealed via an apparent leak.
