{"id":412749,"date":"2017-08-27T09:20:24","date_gmt":"2017-08-27T09:20:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/08\/27\/you-have-no-excuse-to-lose-corruption-fight-ppp-tells-akufo-addo\/"},"modified":"2017-08-27T09:20:24","modified_gmt":"2017-08-27T09:20:24","slug":"you-have-no-excuse-to-lose-corruption-fight-ppp-tells-akufo-addo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/08\/27\/you-have-no-excuse-to-lose-corruption-fight-ppp-tells-akufo-addo\/","title":{"rendered":"You have no excuse to lose corruption fight \u2013 PPP tells Akufo-Addo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/akufo-addo-fresh-475x267.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"mashsb-container mashsb-main mashsb-stretched\">&#13;<br \/>\n                <\/aside>\n<p><!-- Share buttons by mashshare.net - Version: 3.4.4--><\/p>\n<p>The Progressive People\u2019s Party(PPP) wants the New Patriotic Party(NPP) government to\u00a0commit itself to ensuring that corruption scandals are dealt with, as promised in the run-up to the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n<p>According to the General Secretary of the PPP, Murtala Mohammed, the PPP agrees in principle to the idea of having an institution that tackles public sector corruption, and hence must be established soon.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the National Delegates Conference at Cape Coast, Murtala said the governing NPP must not fail Ghanaians \u00a0on the widespread corruption issues which ought to be investigated for possible prosecution.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cWe were happy to hear that in your quest to fight corruption, you\u2019ll no longer declare a zero tolerance for it but you\u2019ll set up a Special Prosecutor\u2019s office. We were happy, because we said that separating the Attorney General\u2019s Department from the Ministry of Justice was the way to go. But the intention was to fight corruption and so in the same spirit if your Special Prosecutor\u2019s Office will deal with corruption we were happy. And so we want to remind you that it is important for nation building for us to keep to our promise.
