{"id":412501,"date":"2017-08-23T17:25:17","date_gmt":"2017-08-23T17:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/08\/23\/ghanas-economy-messy-we-need-time-to-fix-it-freddie-blay\/"},"modified":"2017-08-23T17:25:17","modified_gmt":"2017-08-23T17:25:17","slug":"ghanas-economy-messy-we-need-time-to-fix-it-freddie-blay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/08\/23\/ghanas-economy-messy-we-need-time-to-fix-it-freddie-blay\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana\u2019s economy messy; we need time to fix it \u2013 Freddie Blay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adomonline.com\/ghana-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/MG_0003-Copy.jpg\" data-caption=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"686\" height=\"500\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/xMG_0003-Copy.jpg.pagespeed.ic.MiwIymWX8k.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Freddie Bly\" data-pagespeed-url-hash=\"3339970857\" onload=\"pagespeed.CriticalImages.checkImageForCriticality(this);\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Acting National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is appealing to Ghanaians to give the Akufo-Addo government more time to fix the mess created by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).<\/p>\n<p>Freddie Blay said government inherited a heavily indebted economy from the erstwhile John Mahama government, worse than any other government has met in office in the history of Ghana, but remains committed to tackling the problems.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in an exclusive interview on Asempa FM\u2019s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, the acting NPP leader bemoaned how Ghana\u2019s resources has been depleted to the bone by appointees in the past government.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that, as at the beginning of 2009, Ghana\u2019s total debt stock was GH\u20b59.5billion but by the end of 2016, the debt stock had ballooned to GH\u20b5122billion and now Ghana\u2019s debt stock stands at 72 percent of GDP \u2013 a situation he described as worrying.<\/p>\n<p>Freddie Blay was, however, upbeat that he had what it takes to overturn the ill-fortunes of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur economy is in difficulty and it is therefore time for all of us to put our shoulders to the wheel, work hard and have the appropriate policies in place that will enable us to lift our economy and bring relief to our population\u201d he charged.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP said government appointees are men and women of integrity and have passed several tests of public scrutiny so \u201cI\u2019m more than confident they will deliver\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Freddie Blay urged Ghanaians to support the Akufo-Addo government to accelerate Ghana\u2019s development.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Acting National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is appealing to Ghanaians to give the Akufo-Addo government more time to fix the mess created by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
