{"id":410698,"date":"2017-08-09T09:33:03","date_gmt":"2017-08-09T09:33:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/08\/09\/raila-odinga-says-election-systems-hacked\/"},"modified":"2017-08-09T09:33:03","modified_gmt":"2017-08-09T09:33:03","slug":"raila-odinga-says-election-systems-hacked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/08\/09\/raila-odinga-says-election-systems-hacked\/","title":{"rendered":"Raila Odinga says election systems hacked"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"mashsb-container mashsb-main mashsb-stretched\">&#13;<br \/>\n                <\/aside>\n<p><!-- Share buttons by mashshare.net - Version: 3.4.4--><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">Kenya opposition presidential candidate Raila Odinga has said the electoral commission\u2019s IT system has been hacked to manipulate the election results.<\/p>\n<p>He rejected early results from Tuesday\u2019s vote indicating a strong lead for President Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/p>\n<p>The electoral commission has not yet responded to Mr Odinga\u2019s accusation, but politicians have called for calm.<\/p>\n<p>Many fear a repeat of the violence after a disputed election 10 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>More than 1,100 Kenyans died and 600,000 were displaced following the 2007 vote.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Odinga said that the hackers gained access to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) computer system by using the identity of the commission\u2019s IT manager, Chris Msando, who was\u00a0killed last month.<\/p>\n<p>The opposition leader had earlier told journalists the results coming in were \u201cfake\u201d, because the authorities had failed to present documents verifying the results.<\/p>\n<p>Electoral officials say that with 91% of results in, Mr Kenyatta is leading with about 54.5%, to Mr Odinga\u2019s 44.6%.<\/p>\n<p>These results mean Mr Kenyatta appears to be heading for a first-round victory.
