{"id":409199,"date":"2017-08-04T15:37:26","date_gmt":"2017-08-04T15:37:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/08\/04\/gcnet-to-begin-pilot-of-paperless-process-at-tema-port\/"},"modified":"2017-08-04T15:37:26","modified_gmt":"2017-08-04T15:37:26","slug":"gcnet-to-begin-pilot-of-paperless-process-at-tema-port","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/08\/04\/gcnet-to-begin-pilot-of-paperless-process-at-tema-port\/","title":{"rendered":"GCNET to begin pilot of paperless process at Tema Port"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Exporters and importers who rely on GCNET for their port transactions will be engaged on a single electronic platform from Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Product Development Manager at GCNET, Carl Sackey, revealed this to JoyBusiness when the Parliamentary Select Committee on Trade, Industry and Tourism paid a courtesy call on the company in Accra.<\/p>\n<p>This is a pilot program to test the systems for the implementation of the National Paperless operations which is scheduled to begin September 1, 2017.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/1002554\/Myjoyonline.com_InArticle_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, announced plans are far advanced for the implementation of the Paperless Port operations at the Tema Port.<\/p>\n<p>This will mean that Clearing of goods at the country\u2019s ports would be done\u00a0within four hours\u00a0beginning\u00a0September 1\u00a0as government phases out procedures that cause undue delay.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/2964054264128_1368172882745.jpg\" style=\"height:360px; width:640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Double inspections, processing of papers and other activities that impede the smooth running of the port should be a thing of the past when the paperless operations kick in.<\/p>\n<p>The operator of the automation systems, GCNet confirmed that come\u00a0August 7, the new system begins as it gets piloted at the port.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Trade, Industry and Tourism, Marfo Nana Amaniampong expressed satisfaction with the work done so far by GCNET on the new system.<\/p>\n<p>GCNet is expected to invest about $6million into an infrastructural upgrade as well as other related programs for the year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Exporters and importers who rely on GCNET for their port transactions will be engaged on a single electronic platform from Monday.
