{"id":409014,"date":"2017-08-04T07:00:55","date_gmt":"2017-08-04T07:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/08\/04\/ghc51m-judgement-debt-icc-throws-out-woyome-case\/"},"modified":"2017-08-04T07:00:55","modified_gmt":"2017-08-04T07:00:55","slug":"ghc51m-judgement-debt-icc-throws-out-woyome-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/08\/04\/ghc51m-judgement-debt-icc-throws-out-woyome-case\/","title":{"rendered":"GHC51m judgement debt: ICC throws out Woyome case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/adomonline.com\/ghana-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/tmp_29483-index21383242326.jpg\" data-caption=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"282\" height=\"179\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/xtmp_29483-index21383242326.jpg.pagespeed.ic.33oasm37tY.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Alfred Woyome\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>The International Court of Arbitration has thrown out a case business man Alfred Agbesie Woyome filed against the government of Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement addressed to Woyome and his lawyers Thursday, International court said \u201d The international court of arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce decided that this arbitration will not proceed article (6(4)); and fixed the ICC administrative expenses at $5000 which is covered by the non-refundable payment already made by the claimant\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The \u00a0Article 6(4) says \u201cThe arbitration shall proceed if and to the extent that the Court is prima facie satisfied that an arbitration agreement under the Rules may exist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-58671\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/ICC.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"567\" height=\"822\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The case, titled \u201cAlfred Agbesi Woyome (Ghana) vs\/ REPUBLIC OF GHANA (Ghana)\u201d was \u00a0Mr Woyome\u2019s final attempt to defend the judgement paid to him by the state after the Supreme Court ruled last year that he received the money fraudulently.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-58675\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/icc-2-711x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"711\" height=\"1024\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The apex court ruled that Mr Woyome received the money from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government for an invalid contract between the state and Waterville Holdings Limited in 2006 for the construction of stadia for CAN 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Woyome has, however, refunded GH\u00a24 million out of the total 51.2 million to state coffers.<\/p>\n<p>Although he subsequently promised to pay the outstanding balance by quarterly instalments of GH\u00a25 million from April 1, 2017, he has reneged on that promise.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Court of Arbitration has thrown out a case business man Alfred Agbesie Woyome filed against the government of Ghana.
