{"id":408009,"date":"2017-08-01T18:51:27","date_gmt":"2017-08-01T18:51:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/08\/01\/businesses-express-confidence-in-economy-for-second-quarter\/"},"modified":"2017-08-01T18:51:27","modified_gmt":"2017-08-01T18:51:27","slug":"businesses-express-confidence-in-economy-for-second-quarter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/08\/01\/businesses-express-confidence-in-economy-for-second-quarter\/","title":{"rendered":"Businesses express confidence in economy for second quarter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Forty-six percent\u00a0of Ghanaian Businesses expressed confidence in the economy for the second quarter of 2017, this is according to the AGI business barometer report.<\/p>\n<p>The report which surveys about 461 businesses in the country indicates that more businesses have high expectations in the next quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the media, AGI president, James Asare Adjei, therefore commended government for its efforts in stabilizing the economy to enhance business confidence.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/1002554\/Myjoyonline.com_InArticle_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>Out of the result, high cost of electricity tariffs, cost of credit and access to credit are the topmost challenges of businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The high cost of electricity continues to render industry uncompetitive even though business confidence continues to rise from 103.8 to 109.2 in the second quarter of the year.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/5327684902585_1919904626750.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is attributed to government\u2019s effort towards ensuring macroeconomic stability in the first half of the year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;AGI reiterate its commitment to work with the Ministry of Energy to dealing with tariff issues&#8221; AGI President, James Asare Adjei said.<\/p>\n<p>However, 12 percent\u00a0of businesses think the economy did not help businesses in the second quarter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Average lending rates are still high despite drop in policy rate&#8221; he added. Calling on government to ensure that policy rate reduction at the bank of Ghana is aligned with the lending rates.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Asare Adjei also pressed on government to expedite action on easing port clearance procedures under the single window system and in line with best practices.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the AGI, described as laudable the plan by government to seed 51 percent of the concessionary arrangement for local participation in the energy sector and believes it will go a long way in resolving the cost of power for industry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Forty-six percent\u00a0of Ghanaian Businesses expressed confidence in the economy for the second quarter of 2017, this is according to the AGI business barometer report.
