Akufo Addo meet the press<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\nAn activist of the opposition NDC, Sammy Gyamfi has questioned the motive behind the presidency of Akufo-Addo\u2019s receipt of a petition by unnamed staff of the EC against its Chairperson, Charlotte Osei.<\/p>\n
According to him, a petition with such barrage of allegations filed by faceless people should never have been given an attention by the seat of government which is meant for serious business.<\/p>\n
He opined that, accepting the petition of faceless EC staff is an insult to the presidency and cheapening of the seat of Government.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe flagstaff house should have thrown the petition against the EC Boss into the dustbin. The petition which has no petitioners cannot be entertained by the seat of Government. It is an insult to the president of Ghana to receive a petition without a direct source. The petition can best be used to rap corn, bofrot or groundnut\u201d he opined.<\/p>\n
EC boss Charlotte Osei is facing battle to keep her office after a petition filed by some of his staff seeking to impeach her over stated misconducts.<\/p>\n
The 29-point petition makes some damning allegations against Mrs. Charlotte Osei but she has vehement denied all charges in a press release.<\/p>\n
She has also threatened court action against the petitioners or their counsel for defaming her.<\/p>\n
The issue has generated heated political debate between the two main political parties, the NPP and NDC.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Asempa Fm\u2019s Ekosii Sen programme, Sammy Gyamfi says giving an attention to \u201csuch a hollow\u201d a petition smack of a nation is never serious and has never been serious.<\/p>\n
\u201cI now agree to the assertion by many that this nation not serious. If we were serious, we should not be discussing the EC matter because nobody owned up to be the petition. We should be very serious and not cheapen the presidency\u201d<\/p>\n
He described the unnamed petitioners of Charlotte Osei as untruthful, coward people who should be treated with the contempt it deserves. \u201cIf they were truthful and not coward, they should own up and face Charlotte squarely\u2019.<\/p>\n
He believes issues raised against the EC Chair in the said petition is hollow and be dismissed immediately because it can\u2019t stand the test of any serious scrutiny.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe petition is baseless and should have been thrown away immediately. The allegations in the petition are hollow and should never be considered. They claimed she has no good human relationship so she should be impeached? Is she there to make friends? And that she is inept in management of the commission? Who determines that? Our time is being wasted\u201d he observed.<\/p>\n
The Former Public Relations Officer of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) accused the presidency of as turning the nation into \u201cbanana republic\u201d where law and order is being relegated to the backyard.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnder Akufo-Addo Ghana has turned into banana republic where state institutions are being attacked. Ghana has been rendered not serious under Nana. Useless issues like this are being considered\u201d.<\/p>\n
