Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen is urging the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to make the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) their flagbearer for the 2020 general elections.<\/p>\n

According to him, the NDC by jumping to the defense of the Mrs. Charlotte Osei on the petition asking for her removal from the EC is enough attestation that they are in bed together.<\/p>\n

Nana Obiri Boahen was reacting to the Minority in Parliament\u2019s resolve to mobilise and oppose any attempt to remove Charlotte Osei as the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.<\/p>\n

The NDC MPs lead by their leader, Haruna Iddrisu said they will not allow the government to continue terrorising Ghanaians who do not share in the ideology of the NPP.<\/p>\n

This was after some disgruntled workers of the EC petitioned President Akufo-Addo seeking the impeachment of the Chairperson.<\/p>\n

In the 27-bulleted document intercepted by Joy News, the workers raised some allegations of misbehaviour, mismanagement and breach of law against Mrs Osei.<\/p>\n

The workers among other things claimed \u201cMrs Charlotte Osei unilaterally awarded a contract of about $25,000 to a South African company, Quazar Limited to change and re-develop the Commission\u2019s Logo under the guise of rebranding without going through tender contrary to the Public Procurement Act.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the Minority said it has grounds to believe persons in government are behind the petitioners.<\/p>\n

However, on Asempa FM\u2019s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Nana Obiri Boahen said the conduct of the NDC is not surprising.<\/p>\n

He indicated that, their conduct proves that indeed Charlotte Osei championed their cause in the round up to the 2016 general elections thus it is payback time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhiles we were praying to God for victory, the NDC was relying on Charlotte Osei so it is payback time. I\u2019m not surprised\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Nana Obiri Boahen advised the NDC to make the EC Chairperson their flagbearer, leader or even chairman for NDC to seal their relationship.<\/p>\n

The NPP man stated that \u201cif the petitioners asked me to join, I will wholeheartedly support them\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
