The National Secretary of the People\u2019s National Convention (PNC), Atik Muhammad has described the failure of their party leader to inform the party before accepting the position of an Ambassador-at-large in the Nana Addo administration as a \u2018deliberate\u2019 one.<\/p>\n

The PNC 2016 flagbearer has come under a barrage of attacks after accepting the appointment without recourse to the party. An ambassador-at-large is an ambassador with special duties but not appointed to a particular country.<\/p>\n

National Executives led by Chairman Bernard Mornah are considering a number of sanctions including expelling Dr. Edward Mahama from the party for not consulting them.<\/p>\n

Though the failed presidential hopeful has explained that his decision to take the appointment was in the interest of the state, the PNC said it is a big insult to them.<\/p>\n

In support, Hassan Ayariga on Adom News Tuesday said the PNC leader has brought the name of the party into disrepute for accepting to be a \u201cmessenger\u201d for President Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n

According to him, an experience politician like Dr. Edward Mahama should not have stooped so low to accept such an errand position.<\/p>\n

His \u2018unintelligent\u2019 decision, Hassan Ayariga said could have a ripple effect on the PNC as a political party.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the leader of the party becomes an errand boy, the whole party become an errand party\u201d he bemoaned.<\/p>\n

Atik Muhammad further said on the same station\u2019s Morning Show, \u2018Dwaso Nsem\u2019 Wednesday that Dr Edward Mahama was informed of the appointment in January 2017 and hence has all the time to inform the party if he wanted to.<\/p>\n

Atik added that the party wouldn\u2019t have stood in the way of their party leaders but was disappointed he didn\u2019t do so.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe normal thing was for him to inform the party and go ahead to accept the position\u2026he said he was informed of the position as far back as January and what prevented him from sharing that information with the party as he is not just any party member but a leader of the party? His [Edward Mahama\u2019s] failure to inform the party before accepting the appointment is deliberate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The hierarchy of the party, he said, is set to meet to determine the fate of Dr Edward Mahama.<\/p>\n

The medical doctor, he said, would also be invited to explain to the party why he took that decision.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
