A former Ejisu-Juaben District Chief Executive Officer (DCE), Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh has expressed disappointment in some aspects of the released Kwesi Botchway report on the reasons behind the defeat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).<\/p>\n

The 13-member committee set up by the NDC to probe its defeat in the 2016 election presented its findings to the National Executive Council (NEC) yesterday.<\/p>\n

As part of its recommendations, the committee has asked the party to take a holistic look at the party\u2019s biometric electoral register.<\/p>\n

The 55-paged report, titled, \u2018listening to the grassroot\u2019, said the NDC must take urgent steps to restore the integrity of the register.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the dictates of the report, Yamoah Ponkoh said he was shocked at some of the reasons given as accounting for the defeat of the NDC.<\/p>\n

According to him, the report should have captured the role of certain persons entrusted with various positions in the campaign team and how they failed the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t understand some sections of the report, it didn\u2019t communicate what I wanted to hear\u2026,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n

Yamoah Ponkoh speaking on Adom FM\u2019s Morning Show, \u2018Dwaso Nsem\u2019 Tuesday said the report should have implicated persons who were given specific roles to play in the 2016 campaign team of the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople were given a whole lot of responsibilities so they had to have been told to account for the specific assignments of helping Mahama\u2026the fact is that the people given specific assignments failed to perform and the report should have indicted those who were given specific assignments but failed to perform\u2026,\u201d he said further.<\/p>\n

The Kwesi Botchway committee, he added, should have named and shamed the persons who failed to execute their individual assigned roles so they could be prevented from further holding same positions in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe party set up campaign teams before the elections, is the report saying one or two persons failed to perform and that their failure contributed to the defeat of the party\u2026these persons should be named and shamed and that is what the report fails to do\u2026people who are given special duties but failed to perform must be named and shamed and the report is silent on it and that is my worry\u2026,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
