{"id":396284,"date":"2017-06-19T05:41:52","date_gmt":"2017-06-19T05:41:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/06\/19\/110-ministers-working-without-salaries-deeply-troubling-franklin-cudjoe\/"},"modified":"2017-06-19T05:41:52","modified_gmt":"2017-06-19T05:41:52","slug":"110-ministers-working-without-salaries-deeply-troubling-franklin-cudjoe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/06\/19\/110-ministers-working-without-salaries-deeply-troubling-franklin-cudjoe\/","title":{"rendered":"110 ministers working without salaries deeply troubling\u2013 Franklin Cudjoe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><a href=\"http:\/\/adomonline.com\/ghana-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/download-1-10.jpg\" data-caption=\"Franklin Cudjoe\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"263\" height=\"192\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/download-1-10.jpg.pagespeed.ce.1PBRm9JqFv.jpg\" alt=\"Franklin Cudjoe\" title=\"download (1)\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Franklin Cudjoe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The President of policy think tank IMANI, Franklin Cudjoe has described as worrying the disclosure by Information Minister Mustapha Hamid that all the 110 ministers appointed by President Akufo-Addo have not been paid since assumption of office.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on TV3\u2019s Hot Issues, Mr. Hamid noted working without salary has been difficult for them and \u201cit is not a very good phenomenon in our country that people get employed and after one year they are not taking salaries yet, and they happen to be teachers, nurses etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, if it\u2019s happening to politicians, we should say that: \u2018Well it\u2019s good that it\u2019s happening to them so that they will feel the pinch and correct the anomaly for all of us citizens\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He thus called on the Controller and Accountant General to ensure that the repetitive phenomenon where it takes a while before people are paid is dealt with permanently.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the development on a Facebook post Mr. Cudjoe said \u201cthese appointees need to eat and feed their dependants\u201d stressing \u201cIt is not enough to say they are getting by through the grace of God and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs it that we don\u2019t have the money? Even if as we are now reportedly hearing a revenue gap of almost GHS1.3bn for the quarter, we shouldn\u2019t encourage public servants to work without being paid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI worry when politicians work for free.
