{"id":388044,"date":"2017-05-08T11:21:58","date_gmt":"2017-05-08T11:21:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/05\/08\/500-unemployed-health-workers-picket-at-health-ministry\/"},"modified":"2017-05-08T11:21:58","modified_gmt":"2017-05-08T11:21:58","slug":"500-unemployed-health-workers-picket-at-health-ministry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/05\/08\/500-unemployed-health-workers-picket-at-health-ministry\/","title":{"rendered":"500 unemployed health workers picket at Health Ministry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>About 500 jobless health professionals have staged a <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>protest<\/strong> <\/span>at the Ministry of Health to demand immediate employment.<\/p>\n<p>According to them, the government has failed to employ them after a year of completing their academic programs.<\/p>\n<p>The Allied Health Professionals, comprising graduates of the College of Health in Kintampo and the School of Dispensing Optics in Oyoko say their protest have become necessary because all previous attempts to get government to post them to health facilities have proven futile.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-317275\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Unemployed-nurses-2.jpeg\" alt=\"unemployed-nurses-2\" width=\"1080\" height=\"607\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The President of the group, Solomon Yeboah told <strong>Citi News,<\/strong> that the Ministry has betrayed their\u00a0trust by granting financial clearance to the Coalition of Unemployed Bonded <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>Diploma Nurses<\/strong><\/span> at their expense.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are here because the Ministry had betrayed the trust we had in them. We have met them on several occasions with petitions upon petitions but all have fallen on deaf ears. But when our colleagues came here to picket for just one day, the ministry has given them financial clearance, therefore we also see it as necessary to also picket, because the only means by which we can get financial clearance is picketing since the dialogue didn\u2019t work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The action by the group follows a similar one by the Unemployed bonded diploma nurses who received clearance from the Finance Ministry after picketing the Health Ministry and staying overnight over for government\u2019s failure to employ them after over a year of completing their academic programs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-317274\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Unemployed-nurses-1.jpeg\" alt=\"unemployed-nurses-1\" width=\"1080\" height=\"607\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur focus is until our clearance is released, we are not leaving this premises, irrespective of the number of days it will take, we are here, we will sleep here, we are bath here, we are prepared. You ignore us and ignore us and give over 4,000 people clearance meanwhile our document have been with the ministry for nine good months. Some people just completed last two months and you have included them in the clearance and for us, you have ignored us, what do you take us for?\u201d\u00a0Solomon Yeboah added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Coalition of Unemployed bonded diploma nurses has announced that it is calling off its planned picketing at the flagstaff House which was slated for today [Monday].
