That being said, Apple and other experts suggest\u00a0you let it fully run out of juice every one to two months to \u201ccalibrate\u201d the battery gauge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text__paragraph-header font--h2\"><strong>You\u2019re overheating your battery<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text__paragraph-text font--body has-spacing\">Okay, this isn\u2019t specifically a charging issue. But it\u2019s still <em>very\u00a0<\/em>important.\u00a0You\u2019ve probably noticed that your phone is annoyingly sluggish after its been sitting out in the sun. That\u2019s because\u00a0iPhone batteries really,\u00a0really\u00a0hate extreme temperatures, and\u00a0have to work extra hard in high heat or cold. According to Apple, the \u201ccomfort zone\u201d for iPhones (as well as iPads, iPods, and Apple Watches) is between 32 and 95 degrees. Bottom line: your phone is basically a needy little computer baby that needs to be bundled up and cooled off on the regular.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text__paragraph-header font--h2\"><strong>You\u2019re leaving your case on while you charge<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text__paragraph-text font--body has-spacing\">While we\u2019re on the subject, if your phone feels too hot when it\u2019s plugged in, it\u2019s possible your fancy case might be trapping in the heat that\u2019s produced while charging. So do your phone a favor and take it off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text__paragraph-header font--h2\"><strong>You\u2019re using the wrong charger<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text__paragraph-text font--body has-spacing\">Your Apple-issued charger is designed to cut power when the battery hits 100%, but those cheapo unauthorized third-party USB cords are not, and may do some damage by excessively juicing the battery.
