The 2017 Grammy Awards took an amazing unexpected turn as British star, Adele outdid Beyonce to claim the Grammy’s top prizes, while Chance the Rapper beat Drake and Kanye West, to win the annual music award despite not having a record deal.
The British star, singer-songwriter’s ‘Hello’ not only outdid Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ but Adele became the biggest winner of the US music industry awards evening as she bags awards in all the five categories for which she was nominated on Sunday, February 13 – including the top three categories – album, record of the year with her comeback album “25,” and song of the year with her megahit, ‘Hello’.

Chance the Rapper was nominated for Best New Artist since the recording academy changed the rules for Grammy eligibility so that unsigned or released streaming-only albums such as Coloring Book could be considered.
Coloring Book beat Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo, Drake’s Views, De La Soul’s And The Anonymous Nobody, Schoolboy Q’s Blank Face, and DJ Khaled’s Major Key.
The 23-year old Rapper was also nominated for six other awards on Sunday night including Best New Artist, and Best Rap Performance for ‘No Problem’ and he won both nominations and became the first artist ever to be nominated and win a Grammy for an artist who released a stream-only album.

Both artists, Adele and Chance the Rapper gave out their heartfelt speeches.
While receiving his best new artist Grammy, Chance thanked God and “all of Chicago.”
“Glory be to God. I claim this victory in the name of the Lord.”
In an emotional speech, Adele dedicated her 2017 Grammy awards to Beyoncé whom she said deserved the award for ‘Lemonade.’
“I can’t possibly accept this award, and I’m very humbled and very grateful and gracious but my life is Beyonce, and the album to me, the “Lemonade” album, Beyonce, was so monumental, and so well thought out. And so beautiful and soul bearing and we all got to see another side of you that you don’t always let us see, and we appreciate that.
“And all us artists adore you. You are our light. And the way that you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel is empowering, and you make them stand up for themselves. And I love you. I always have. And I always will. I appreciate it.”
