The Ashanti Regional Police Command has threatened to demolish all illegal structures in the regional police barracks.

The barracks have been congested with kiosks and other illegal structures by the police officers and their wives.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander COP Ken Yeboah speaking at the 30th Anniversary celebration of Police Wives Association (POLWA) on the theme “Empowering wives to support their husband to succeed at work” said a demolishing exercise has become necessary due to congestion of the barracks.

He therefore urged Police wives to change their attitudes towards sanitation to ensure good sanitation in the barracks.

“We will start demolishing all illegal structures in the barracks to make sure the barracks is not congested. I’m urging you (Police Wives) to do regular cleanup exercise in the barracks to ensure proper hygiene” he said.

The National President of Police Wives Association (POLWA) who is the wife of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mrs. Tina Asante Apeatu called on police wives to support their husbands with prayers as she described their work as difficult.

Mrs. Tina Apeatu added that POLWA has established fund to support police wives who are widows.

“It is very sad for a police officer to lose his life while on duty. The fund will be used to support police wives whose husband will die on duty and those who are needy. We must also work hard to support our husbands and pray for them” she said.
