Deputy Sports Minister Pius Hadzide has hinted strongly at an impending mega sponsorship deal for the Black Stars.

The team has been without a sponsor since April after State owned Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) ended their sponsorship package with the team after pressure from Parliament.

With the 2018 budget seeing a 30% cut for the Sports Ministry, Hadzide suggested in an interview with Citi Sports that the Ministry was eagerly in a hunt for a sponsor for the Black Stars in order to free up resources for other aspects.

“Leadership is about planning and prioritizing. Leadership is also about finding creative ways of raking in some private funding and enhancing on our sponsorship seeking drive leveraging on the huge brands of our football teams like the Black Stars.

“We need to find the Black Stars some major sponsors so we can free some resources to attend to some other things,” he said.

The Sports ministry was allocated GHS 32, 799, 500 for their activities in 2018, more than 10m cedis less than what they received in 2017.
