The Computerized School Selection and Placement System did not place 36,849 students into Senior High Schools because they scored a Grade 9 in either English or Mathematics.
Out of a total number of 460,941 candidates, 424,092 candidates (92%) qualified to be placed.
A statement signed by Acting Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Prof. Kwaso Opoku-Amankwa said during the process, 267, 327 candidates secured places in schools of their choice, whilst 150,770 candidates could not be placed in schools of their choice. Such students are however being given the second chance of choosing a school.
“The qualified candidates who did not get a place of their choice should go online and select an option available within 48 hours from today” (31st August 2017). Students can check their status from 1st September 2017 by loggingonto www.myjhsresult.net and following the online instructions.”
The statement announced that the 2017/18 academic year for all senior high schools will commence on 11th September2017.
All form one students are also expected to report to their schools on that day.
