Ghana striker Ebenezer Assifuah has credited hard pre-season work by his French Ligue 2 side Le Havre that helped score in the season’s opening league match.

The former Ghana U20 star scored the opening goal as Le Havre crashed Tours 3-0 away on the opening day of the French Ligue 2 on Friday.

The Ghana international found the back of the net in the 9th minute with a diving header.

Barnabas Bese made it 2-0 on 50 minutes before Jean-Pascal Fontaine scored the final goal in the 90th minute.

Assifuah was substituted in the 73rd minute by Alimani Gory but was delighted over his heroics.

“I am happy with that first goal, but especially happy for the team. It is important to win the first match of the season,” Assifuah said after the match.
