Judge advises Bukom Banku to stay away from street fights

An Accra District Court judge has advised Ghanaian boxer popularly known as Bukom Banku to avoid getting involved in street fights after discharging the veteran fighter for threatening to assault a local hairdresser.

Mr. Braimah Isaac Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, has had a recent run in with the long arm of the law regarding an instance where the famous boxer was accused of threatening to assault a local hairdresser.

Bukom Banku is also alleged to have verbally assaulted the hairdresser prior to threatening to beat her up because she [hairdresser] was talking to his daughter

Judge Arit Nsemoh, presiding magistrate of Accra District Court 7, upon discharging Bukom Banku rather advised the veteran boxer to endeavor to become a good role model for young people.

“As a boxer, you should be a role model to the youth,” Ms Nsemoh told Bukom prior to his discharge.

Bukom Bankum – who hails from the part of Accra which he took his nickname from – was discharged because his case was resolved via Alternative Dispute Resolution.
