The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has warned individuals who use the names of senior military officers to dupe the unsuspecting public to desist from the act.

According to the GAF, it has come to their notice that, some people are engaging members of the public and taking monies from them using names of senior officials, which is gradually bringing the image of the force into disrepute.

Director of Public Affairs of the GAF, Colonel Aggrey-Quarshie said the Military Police have taken over the issue and would arrest some perpetrators in the coming days.

“A lot of people continue to fall victim to this process, just last Friday somebody was in my office, claiming to have spoken to me the previous day, we eventually got to know that, it was wrong number,” he told Citi News.

He added that the public must understand that, no senior officer of the Armed Forces would go on social media to try and solicit funds from people for any cause or reason.

He asked the public to be aware of such fraudsters and inform the police immediately they come across such persons.
