Football legend George Oppong Weah has hailed Asamoah Gyan as a great leader of the Black Stars.
Gyan took over the armband from John Mensah in 2012 and has exhibited some remarkable leadership qualities.
The all-time Ghana’s top scorer with 51 goals in 105 appearances in recent times has come under intense criticisms for failing to win laurels with the team with some questioning his leadership style.
But speaking to Bola Ray on Starr Chat, George Oppong Weah insists Gyan has been a great leader from a player’s perspective.
“I love him and you know he is very resilient because there’s been a lot of criticisms of him but he’s been focused and he always comes in to do his job and continue to live his life,” he told Starr FM
“I think he is a leader from a player’s perspective, he is a true leader” he added
