Dcg 4NDC ‘gurus’ loot Kasoa Market lands

Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communication Team in the Awutu Senya East constituency in the Central Region have accused executive members of the erstwhile Mahama administration of selling government lands at the Kasoa New Market to themselves.

According to them, when the NPP assumed the reins of government, the team received several petitions from sections of the general public who alleged that the NDC executives sold government lands to themselves.

They alleged that the sale of the lands had the full support of some bigwigs in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking in an interview with Today on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in Accra, a member of the NPP Communication Team, Mr. Charles Kojo Odoom, accused the District Assembly of aiding NDC executives to sell the lands to themselves.

The visibly enraged NPP members indicated that they will soon name and shame those NDC members who illegally acquired lands at the Kasoa Market area.

“As citizens and not spectators, we find it necessary to let Ghanaians know how some members of the NDC managed to loot the lands at Kosoa Market reserved for future use.

“…due to poor planning by the top officials of the previous NDC administration, the Kasoa Market did not have a proper lay out,” he noted.

Mr. Odoom lamented the poor sanitation problem facing the traders in the market.

He blamed the situation on the former managers of the Awutu Senya East Assembly for failing to provide refuse containers for the market users.

“Because the market lacks good sanitation we have made plans to partner the current Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Assembly, Mr. Michael Mensah, to ensure that the market becomes one of the decent markets in this country,” he said.

In this regard, Mr. Odoom called on the MCE to, as a matter of urgency, look into all the tenancy agreements the former DCE, Mr. Adams Nuhu, had with the tenants.
