A youth Empowerment programme that seeks to provide Ghanaian youth with the opportunity to gain expert training in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has been launched in Accra.
The programme is the initiative of the Margins Group and Enablis Ghana. The aim is to provide a platform that offers practical solutions to the growth of businesses and ICT in the country.
At the programme launch last Thursday, the Country Director of Enablis Ghana, Madam Shika Acolatse, said participants would be provided with skills in ICT such as would enable them to build on their knowledge and turn their ideas into practical endeavours.
She said the youth in the country needed to be technologically empowered to enable them to compete favourably both nationally and internationally.
“To make economic impact and contribute to national development, ICT should be given a priority in the country,” she said.
She said the opportunity was opened for youth who were interested in the programme to apply to participate.
According to her, it is expected that at the end of the programme, participants would have developed their skills and explored diverse ways of applying knowledge gained as well as sharpened their research and networking skills.
Strengthen ICT sector
The Executive Director of the Margins Group, Mr Frank Oye, said to be able to achieve maximum impact for sustainable macroeconomic development, the ICT sector must be strengthened.
He said digitalisation was crucial to the development of any nation.
“Digitalisation and entrepreneurship would promote African businesses,” he said.
He said the Margins Group would continue to support ambitious entrepreneurs to assist them to contribute to sustainable development of the nation.
“At Margins Group, we are ready to support entrepreneurs who are ambitious,” he said.
He said when the youth gained adequate knowledge in ICT, national development would be enhanced and the country would be able to catch up with the developed world.
He encouraged Ghanaian youth therefore to take advantage of the initiative and register for the programme.
He promised that the Margin Group would assist any individual who would join in the programme and had ambition to gain international exposure.
