May Day: Organised Labour holds forum on jobs

Organised Labour will on Wednesday, April 26, hold a forum on its theme for the 2017 May Day celebration; “Ghana @60: Mobilizing for Ghana’s Future through the creation of Decent Jobs”.

The forum to be held at the Mensvic Grand Hotel, East Legon, Accra, will precede national and regional parades to celebrate workers in Ghana and millions around the world on May Day.

A press statement issued by Dr. Yaw Baah, Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress, for Organised Labour, said President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo will be the Special Guest of Honour at the National Parade to be held at the Independence Square (Black Star Square) in Accra on May 1, 2017 from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

“Regional May Day Parades will also be held in all the ten regions of Ghana,” the statement said.

PRESS STATEMENT ON 2017 MAY DAY CELEBRATION

Monday, May 1, 2017 is Workers’ Day of Solidarity (May Day). The working people of Ghana will join millions around the world to celebrate May Day. 

The theme for the 2017 May Day celebration in Ghana is: “Ghana @60: Mobilizing for Ghana’s Future through the creation of Decent Jobs”.

The National May Day Parade will be held at the Independence Square (Black Star Square) in Accra on May 1, 2017 from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

President Nana AddoDanquahAkufo-Addowill be the Special Guest of Honour at the National Parade.

Regional May Day Parades will also be held in all the ten regions of Ghana.

The National and Regional Parades will be preceded by a National May Day Forum to discuss the theme. The Forum is scheduled for Wednesday 26th April, 2017 from 9:00am to 1:00pm at Mensvic Grand Hotel, East Legon, Accra.

All working people of Ghana are invited to join the celebration.
