A judge has suggested to the Ghana Police Service to start prosecuting pedestrians who cross roads indiscriminately.

Mrs Victoria A. Ghansah, a magistrate at the Abeka District Court, said the police often times leave pedestrians, who do not pay heed to regulations and hold drivers responsible for road accidents.

“The Police should start prosecuting pedestrians to stop crossing roads anywhere and anyhow. They would begin to learn if that is done,” she said.

Mrs Ghansah said this when some drivers were put before the court on various traffic offences, including careless and inconsiderate driving and negligently causing harm to victims of accidents.

She noted that some pedestrians crossed the road indiscriminately and put drivers in trouble.

The judge tasked the police to intensify education on road regulations to curb road accidents.
