One of the leading financial institutions in the country, Groupe Ideal, has pledged support for the University of Cape Coast, towards the establishment of its School of Economics.
President of Groupe Ideal, Dr. Nii Kotei Dzani disclosed this at Cape Coast in the Central Region, where he donated over 30 computers and laptops as well as three printers valued at over GHs90,000, to the Department of Economics on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
Dr. Kotei Dzani who is also a member of the Council of State, noted that the establishment of the School of Economics will help bring a lot of change to the way people understand issues affecting the economy of the country.
“We can develop a country by training the mindset of the people to value patriotism”, he stated, stressing, “it is not money that make up the value of society”.
According to him, “the economic fundamental of the country is weak, so we are in a country where the politicians toy with our mind”.
Dr. Dzani, a product of the UCC, said the gesture was premised on earlier discussions he had with the Head of the Department, Dr. Emmanuel Ekow Asmah and some senior lecturers, who pleaded for assistance to resource the Department to facilitate teaching and learning.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Department, Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor Joseph Ghartey Ampiah commended Groupe Ideal for the support as well as the pledge towards the establishment of the School of Economics. He said the University is ever ready to do what will be required for this to be realised.
“We will support you [Groupe Ideal] through the processes to make sure this is realized…It is fulfilling because, it is something we need,” Prof. Ghartey stated.
Groupe Ideal currently operates Thirteen (13) successful companies across the country, with Ideal Finance Company as its flagship organization.
