The President is heading to the Ashanti Region with an entourage on Friday for a three-day tour.

Nana Akufo-Addo would be accompanied by top government officials, a statement from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said.

Ashanti Region Secretary of the ruling NPP, Sam Pyne, said in the statement that the President will climax the tour with a rally on Sunday.

The President would also thank the people of the region for their massive support during the 2016 polls.

Meanwhile, Myjoyonline.com sources say the President would also use the visit to settle the controversy stirred by the recent attack on a government appointee by members of the NPP-affiliated Delta Force.

A visit to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) is not off the table, the sources say.

KATH has been in the spotlight following an investigative report by Joy News that revealed that lack of adequate resources at the facility results in the death of an average of four babies every day.

President Akufo-Addo and his entourage will also use the visit to determine areas which are crucial to the development of the region, the NPP statement indicated.
