Some students of Wenchi Methodist senior high school (SHS) which lost some of its students in the Kintampo Waterfall disaster said they would not embark on future excursions.

The students said they are afraid to experience a similar fate as their colleagues in last two weeks accident that led to the death of at least 20 people with 11 others suffering varying degrees of injuries.

Fifteen students studying General Arts in the school were among those who lost their lives after a huge tree fell on them on March 19.

The students told Joy News’ Brong Ahafo regional correspondent, Anass Sabit they will not be part of future trips since such excursions have proven unsafe.

“It came as a shock to some of us…three of my classmates died in the accident and this is disturbing. Most of our mates are in a state of shock after the news broke,” one student said.

“It is very bad, very pathetic,” said another student who said he lost two of his best friends.

He entreated students to pray for their colleagues who survived the accident and those responding to treatment in the hospital.

“When we heard the news, all students were psychologically affected and learning was very difficult”.

However, one student who remains unfazed with the incident said he would join future trips.

“I’m not scared of embarking on future excursions because as a Christian, my bible always tells me with God, all things are possible.”

“It is God who speaketh life but not mankind and I know that God’s spirit is with me wherever I go,” he added.
