The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the Mankessim Secondary Technical has constructed an ultramodern dormitory for the school at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.

The construction of the dormitory, which began in November 2015 and ended in March 2017, would help resolve the accommodation problems facing the students.

The construction of the two-story building cost GH¢508,500.

Commissioning the dormitory, the outgoing PTA Chairman Kenneth K. Essuman said it would immensely benefit 480 students.

Mr. Essuman stated that plans were underway for PTA to construct a two-story boys’ dormitory in the school.

He mentioned that the PTA was financing the purchase of musical instrument for cadet corps, purchase of 120 plastic chairs, construction of dining hall and computer center to boost the teaching of Information Communication Technology (ICT), as well as the construction of sick bay for the students.

Mr Essuman reiterated the commitment of the PTA in improving facilities of the school to enable the students compete with their counterparts across the country.

He urged parents to continue to support the school to complete the boy’s dormitory and further appealed to the new PTA executives to complete all old projects at the school.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Ekow Kwansah Hayford, promised to donate 200 beds for the girls’ dormitory and 100 bags of cement to complete the boy’s dormitory.

The headmistress of the school, Esther Germaina Taylor, thanked the parents for their support for the school.
