Pupils of Mpasaaso Number Two D/A Junior High School in the Ahafo-Ano South District will no longer sit on plastic gallons, ladders and other objects to study.

It follows the donation of 25 dual desks, chairs and tables by the Rotary Club of Nhyiaeso in Kumasi after a JoyNews report highlighted the plight of pupils.

Ohemeng Tawiah reported lack of furniture compelled pupils to sit on gallons, ladder and other objects.

This affected the academic work and impacted negatively on the health of the pupils.

Acting Ahafo Ano South District Educational Director, Alfred Kojo Boateng who received the furniture on behalf of the school describes the  gesture as timely.

“The educational directorate receives these furniture on behalf of Mpasaaso Number Two JHS. We are very grateful and will also  ensure that proper maintenance culture is ensured to prolong the usage of the furniture.”

President of the Nhyiaeso Rotary Club, Thomas Otchere believes the furniture will facilitate effective teaching and learning.

“We saw the uncomfortable situation of the students on  Joynews some months ago. As a service organization, we decided to come to their aid. I will urge other organizations and individuals to follow suit to improve our educational system,” he added.

Meanwhile, Adontenhene of Mpasaaso traditional area Nana Oduro Manu has appealed to the public to assist the school with ICT facilities.
