THE Paramount chief of Tepa Traditional Area, Nana Adusei Atwenewaa Ampem I, has voiced support for the new Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, asserting that his appointment is advantageous to the dwellers in the region, particularly Nananom.

According to him, he has never doubted the Minister’s capabilities and skills to help President Akufo-Addo deliver on his promises to the people in this part of the country, having followed his exploits from his days as a banker to political life.

“More so when we, as chiefs, feel the need to connect Government to our challenges, concerns and needs in our traditional areas. Mr. Osei-Mensah’s appointment is a blessing to traditional rulers,” the paramount chief stated.

Nana Adusei Atwenewaa Ampem I made these remarks when he paid a courtesy call on the Regional Minister at his office on Thursday. It was to welcome the Regional Minister to the region as the former Member of Parliament for Bosomtwi took over from John Alexander Ackon of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following change of government.

The Tepamanhene promised to support the new Regional Minister in his duties to enable him succeed for the people’s benefit.

He called on the citizens in the region to cooperate and work with the Minister to restore the region to its glorious days and make it the hub of industrial business in the country.

The chief also urged the Regional Minister to work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in him by the President and serve the people in humility as he addresses teething problems in various districts across the region.

He drew the Minister’s attention to projects such as the Tepa market and township roads and the Tepa Hospital project as some of the issues that require urgent attention.

Mr Osei-Mensah, on his part, pledged his commitment to work closely with the traditional authorities to make sure the region gets its fair share of development in the many programmes and projects penciled down by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

According to the Minister, he is ready to provide the needed platform for consultation with chiefs to fast track the growth and transformation of the region.

He assured the chief of government’s commitment to complete ongoing projects and start news ones, including the Tepa township road project, while pledging to take up the chief’s concerns to the Road Minister for redress.

Nana Adusei Atwenewaa Ampem, earlier presented a royal kente cloth to the minister, which was used to symbolize the unity and “special bond” between the two.
