The suspects

The Weija police command has apprehended two men believed to be behind some robbery and landguard activities within the area and its environs.

The suspects are Ibrahim Addo, 28, a mason and Sulemana Muniru, 28, a plumber.

They were arrested in a special operation organised by the divisional command at Denkyira, near Weija.

A pistol with three rounds of ammunitions and a pump action gun loaded with three rounds of cartridges and dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were seized from suspects at the time of their arrest.

Briefing the DAILY GUIDE, DCOP Osabarima Oware Asare Pinkro III said the suspects were arrested after receiving several complaints of their activities in the area and its environs.

While patrolling in the area Wednesday night, the patrol team spotted Addo riding a motorbike and when he was stopped and searched, the police found the weapons on him and immediately arrested him.

A few hours later Muniru, also riding a motorbike emerged and when he was stopped he sped off.

The police, Mr Pinkro said, therefore gave him a hot chase and when they finally arrested him and was searched, a fully loaded pump action gun was discovered hidden in his bag.

Both suspects were then led to their hideouts for a search to be conducted and at suspect Addo’s place, nothing was discovered but in suspect Muniru’s house, some quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were discovered.

Preliminary investigations conducted revealed that the two suspects were involved in a number of robbery and land guard activities recorded in recent times in Denkyira and its surrounding areas.

The two suspects have since been detained at the Accra Central Police Station pending investigations.
