Savoy Raoul Savoy has applied for the Black Stars job

Swiss coach Raoul Savoy has confirmed exclusively to sportsworldghana.com that he has applied for the Black Stars coaching job.

Ghana’s hunt for Avram Grant’s successor is ongoing following the Israelis contract expiration in February.

Speaking in an interview with sportsworldghana.com, he outlined a perfect plan to unearth talents on the local scene for the Black Stars by staying in the country and also lead Ghana to win AFCON 2019 in Cameroun.

“Yes, I applied for the job because am sure Ghana is one of the best teams in Africa and I think I can help the Black Stars win the AFCON title in 2019,”he told SportsworldGhana.com.

“Going forward local players need to be developed as future for the Black Stars in the next 4 or 5 years.I have always stayed in the country where I was employed but not to always travel to Europe. I think a lot of local talents need to be unearthed and Ghana has a very Good league.”

“I believe I can help Ghana be on top of African rankings.”

With 13 years’ experience on the African continent the Swiss trainer who have worked in Cameroun, Algeria, Swaziland, Ethiopia, Central African Republic, Gambia and Morocco believes he can land the Job.

“I don’t know the criteria the GFA will use but coaching in the four corners of Africa gives me the edge and I know the concept of African Football,”he added.

The former FC Sion Manager also confirmed his coaching stint with Black Stars Striker Ebenezer Assifuah.

“I trained with Assifuah in FC Sion, a quality player for the future and monitoring others around Europe I think they are professionally doing well.”

A six member consisting of GFA Boss Kwesi Nyantakyi, Black Stars Management Committee Chairman George Afriyie, GFA Technical Director Oti Akenteng, GFA ExCo member Opoku Nti , FA’s Protocol & International Relations Officer Alex Asante and Dr. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah Sports Directorate of the University of Ghana have been tasked to search for Ghana’s next coach.

The Committee tasked to search for a new Black Stars coach has set Friday 10th March, 2017 as the final deadline for the submission of applications for the job.
