The management of the Ghana Education Trust Fund says it is committed to its obligation to students studying abroad under the scholarship scheme.

A statement released Tuesday, said the Fund is aware of fees and stipends it has to pay for students studying abroad and will do so despite the delays.

The statement is in reaction to reports of unnecessary delays in the payment of stipends which has kept Ghanaian students studying in China in limbo.

The students have since September 2016 been complaining about the delays in the payment of their fees and stipends.

They say several attempts to get officials to pay the fees have yet to bear fruits even though attempts have been made to get their bank details.

But officials of GETFund whose responsibility it is to make the payments have attributed the delays to some transition challenges following the change in government.

“The GETFund has since the beginning of the year been corresponding with some schools and students as to our arrangement to settle our obligations.

“The GETFund has been confronted with some transition challenges recently but are being resolved.

Parents and students are thus assured that our obligations regarding the scholarships will be honoured soon,” the statement said.
