The Coordinator of the Third World Network, Dr. Yao Graham says Chieftaincy role in Ghana is the fragmentary force that poses a threat to country’s fundamental unitary system of democracy, since democracy is built on equal rights.

Dr. Graham added that socialist democracy has become a fraudulent mask used by the political class in deceiving the masses.

He stated this at the 51st public forum organized by Socialist Forum Ghana in Accra to commemorate the overthrow of Ghana’s first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

The Ghana Socialist Forum (SFG), 15 years ago, set aside 24th February as a day to commemorate the overthrow of Ghana’s first President Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

This year’s anniversary was on the theme “Ghana’s Day of Shame- The Role of Socialist in the struggle for Democracy.

Addressing the participants, Comrade Albie Walls of the All Peoples Revolutionary Party (APRP) said, Africans vision of democracy has been distorted by imperialist, and the masses are not allowed to vote on matters that are most important in their lives.

He further argues that, options that are provided for the electorates in a multi-party state are actually no options at all because those options don’t really serve the interest of the majority of the people but the very few political elites.

The Coordinator of the Third World Network Dr. Yao Graham, said the imperative transformation of new colonialism of a commodity exporting economy which Nkrumah recognizes as a central challenge of post colonialism of industrialization is back on the national agenda, but his cry was will this benefit the ordinary people or just the rich few.

He added that Chieftaincy role in Ghana is the fragmentary force that poses a threat to country’s fundamental unitary system of democracy, since democracy is built on equal rights.

For his part, Comrade Barzini Tandoh of the International Socialist Organization, (ISO) said Capitalism is not working in Africa there by leading to starvation in some part of the African continent. He charge the youth to inculcate the organization skills of Dr. Nkrumah to be able to transform the country for the benefit of the masses.
