Swansea City manager Paul Clement has confirmed that the club is on the verge of completing a move for Ghana and Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew. The move will see Neil Taylor of Swansea move in the other direction with Swansea also expected to pay a fee of 5 million pounds as part of the deal.

“It is not done yet, but it is close to being done,” Swansea manager Paul Clement said of the swap deal.

The 25 year old Jordan was linked to Swansea on a number of occasions while elder brother Andre was at the club last season. According to the Belfast Telegraph Ayew who is currently with the Black Stars of Ghana at the ongoing AFCON in Gabon can complete the deal despite being unavailable as he recently completed a medical with the Football Association for insurance purposes.

Clement admitted that the ability of Jordan to play in a variety of positions makes him a good addition to their squad. “We bought Olson from Norwich so we had three left backs while I only needed two. “And we get a young offensive talent who can add to what we have. “Ayew can play wide or through the middle and I like that versatility,”he admitted.

The striker who recently scored his first Afcon goal in Ghana’s quarter final match against DR Congo has however only managed 3 goals in 22 appearances under manager Steve Bruce who is keen to see him leave.
