Nollywood Actress Rallies Support Cleric

Nollywood actress, Angela Okorie, has urged Christians in Nigeria to come out en masse to support and accompany Apostle Johnson Suleiman as he visits the DSS office today.

The Department of State Services (DSS) officially extended an invitation to the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide to appear at its National Headquarters in Abuja for questioning on Monday.

The invitation is in connection to Suleiman’s comments that Christians should defend themselves against attacks by Fulani herdsmen. Last week, Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, foiled Apostle Suleiman’s arrest by the DSS operatives in Ado-Ekiti.

In reaction, Actress Okorie wrote: “The DSS has invited Apostle Johnson Suleiman to appear before the Abuja office for interrogation by 10am on Monday 30/1/17.

“The DSS has invited Apostle Johnson Suleiman to appear before the Abuja office for interrogation by 10am on Monday 30/1/17.

“Let every Christian come out in a procession to accompany Apostle Suleiman to the DSS office. He spoke for us all.

“We stand against the shameful silence of Nigerian government over killing of Christians in Nigeria; intimidation/harassment of the church with state security agencies and the Islamic Agenda of this regime.

“United we stand & Together we will win this battle. Christians awake!!!!”

However, against the earlier call by some concerned bodies for Christians to come out en masse for a protest march to the Abuja DSS office on Monday to support Apostle Suleiman as he honours their invitation, the man of God through his ministry, Omega Fire Ministries Inc, urged caution against any form of protest for the sake of peace.

In a statement signed by the OFM Admin, Pastor David Apelorioye, the ministry wrote:

“We ask all Christians to stay away from the planned protest and pray for the nation. We can almost agree that this is not a war but an invitation.

“Apostle Johnson Suleiman is a man of God and has the love of the nation at heart, we do not want anybody or group to use the current situation to create anarchy in the system.

“He appreciates the love and support received so far since the attempted arrest and he wishes that we crown this effort with a call to pray rather than the protest march.

“Once again, we urge Christians to pray fervently for the peace of the nation and the nullification of the plans of the enemies of this nation.”

Despite the ministry’s plea, some Nigerians were seen gathered at the Unity Fountain to follow the man of God to the DSS headquarters, according to an AIT report.

Leader of the group, Abel Ebere said they were ready to die with Apostle Suleiman and would follow the man of God to the DSS headquarters. He alleged that the FG is obviously determined to wipe out Christianity from Nigeria.

The pastor’s foiled arrest has since sparked outrage from Nigerians both from the religious and political angles as some insinuated that the Apostle’s detention will trigger an uncontrollable religious crisis in Nigeria.

A former Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Archbishop Sunday Ola Makinde has also joined voices in the Apostle Suleiman and the DSS controversy, alleging that government is mad because the man of God converted from Islam to Christianity.
