Sunderland’s Victor Anichebe Ruled Out for 3 Months

Sunderland manager David Moyes may be forced into making an emergency move for a striker this January after the Nigerian international was ruled out for three months.

Anichebe ruptured his medial ligament during Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to his former club West Brom and is now set to miss most of the remainder of the season.

Anichebe suffered the injury just ten minutes after coming on in what was his return from a hamstring injury that had sidelined him since New Year’s Eve.

Anichebe’s introduction into the team earlier in the season sparked the Black Cats’ finest run of form – four wins in seven league games – but he joins Lee Cattermole, Jan Kirchhoff, Jordan Pickford, Paddy McNair, and Duncan Watmore on the club’s growing injury list.
