Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has expressed his delight at being named Total Man of the Match in the win over the Malians in the Black Stars’ second game at the AFCON. The Atletico Madrid midfielder put in a virtuoso performance in the nail-biting win over their fellow West Africans.
“I honestly focus more on team results than individual awards. I just try to do my best for the team so I barely thought about that. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told by the CAF people that I was Man of the Match.
All my colleagues did their best as you all saw. I am happy, though, that my efforts have been recognised. I dedicate this award to all my colleagues and the entire technical team for the faith they continue to show in me. You know I only recently got into the starting X1 of the team so I am determined to give my all for the team, he told ClassSports’ Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang.
Partey will be looking forward to his third start at the AFCON when the Stars play the Egyptians in their final Group D game of the tournament.
