Dr Edward Mahama<\/strong><\/p>\nFlagbearer of the People\u2019s National Convention Dr Edward Mahama has thrown a major shade at his former competitor, Hassan Ayariga, saying he needs \u201cspecial prayers\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am praying for him because why would he weep and refuse to thank the people who voted for him anyway [even after losing]?\u201d<\/p>\n
Dr. Mahama, who led the party in the 1996 elections through to the 2008 polls before being succeeded by Ayariga in the 2012 elections, said he found the need to come back to the party\u2019s leadership because he realized his successor was \u201cnot going to be good enough for our fortunes\u201d.<\/p>\n
In the Saturday December 12 elections held by the PNC, Mahama polled 492 votes as against Ayariga\u2019s 426 votes.<\/p>\n
This will be his fifth attempt at the presidential seat of Ghana.<\/p>\n
In a post election interview with Starr News, Ayariga contended the elections, saying it was not fairly conducted.<\/p>\n
Ayariga said he would contest the 2016 elections as flagbearer, but not on the ticket of the PNC, adding the party did not deserve him anymore.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think that PNC deserves me because I believe that I am there to build the party, I have committed resources in building the party not the opposite so if the PNC wants Edward Mahama [then] Hassan Ayariga is out of the party\u201d.<\/p>\n
But Dr. Mahama told Baisiwa Dowuna Hammond and Kafui Dey on GHOne\u2019s morning TV Show, GHTODAY<\/b> that Ayariga is only indulging in some attention seeking gimmicks.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen he lost he run out of the party crying like a baby. I don\u2019t want to talk about him but Ayariga needs prayers. He needs deliverance from his arrogance,\u201d he told the hosts of the show on EIB Network\u2019s, GHOne TV.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s talk about what we can do to move Ghana forward. Ayariga is history as far as I\u2019m concerned because he has indicated he is leaving the party anyway,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
