NDC youth demonstrate against Savelugu MCE

Angry youth of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Savelugu constituency of the Northern Region, have demonstrated against the Savelugu Municipal Chief Executive, Abdulai Alhassan Red.

The demonstration was organized in Savelugu Township by a group calling itself the Concerned Youth of NDC.

The protestors held placards some of which read, ‘Reinstate Mr. Iddrisu Buglung or forget Savelugu seat,’ ‘Mahama must do something,’ ‘Savelugu is zero in development,’ and ‘No Buglung no vote.’

They demanded the immediate dismissal of the Savelugu Municipal Chief Executive, Abdulai Alhassan Red.

The group’s Spokesperson, Mohammed Fuseini, said the conduct of the Savelugu MCE, Abdulai Alhassan Red who doubles as the NDC Parliamentary candidate for the 2016 polls, was making the party unpopular in the constituency.

He also accused the Savelugu MCE of causing the interdiction of one Alhassan Iddrisu Buglung who contested the Savelugu NDC Parliamentary primary.

Alhassan Iddrisu Buglung was the Northern Regional Accountant of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).

The group demanded Alhassan Iddrisu Buglung’s reinstatement saying that request is non-negotiable.

Mohammed Fuseini warned that Abdulai Alhassan Red’s continuous stay in office could cause the NDC’s defeat in the Savelugu constituency on November 7.

The NDC has since 1992 gained electoral monopoly in the Savelugu constituency with the incumbent Hajia Mary Boforo as the Member of Parliament.
