Nurses and midwives trainees demonstrate today over unpaid salaries

The Ghana Nurses and Midwives Trainees Association will today hit the streets of Accra to demonstrate against government’s lack of interest to resolve the concerns of the trainees.

The demonstration is to press home their demands for government to pay the trainee nurses, and midwives some allowances due them, and also ensure employment for all qualified nurses and midwives.

President of the Association, Akazee Godwin Asabire, told Starr News that they are demonstrating because the several pleas they have made to government have failed to yield any positive results.

“There are a host of issues and anytime we give government the opportunity to resolve our issues for us, they are rather left unattended to and these issues are very sensitive and have impacts on our training. We decided not to resort to demonstrations but the situation calls for it”.
