Refrigeration repairer Francis Dorke, recorded two shot better than the course par in the scratch (0-5) event of the Zipnet-Owusu Adjapong, (OA) golf tournament at the Tema Country Golf Club on Saturday.

Playing on handicap 5, the Tafo and Royal Golf Club player recorded a 69 net score to win the men’s main event.
ET Mensah also recorded 69 to beat Alex Fiagome by just a stroke to win the men’s Group A event.
It was Dr Yaw Ani, 69 who picked the ultimate prize in the Group B event. While Benny Mimis and Kofi Sarpong followed in that order.
Nana Owusu Afari with a handicap of 22 beat Paul Owusu Baah on count back in the seniors’ category.
A 73 net delivered the ladies’ top prize to Mercy Werner after beating ace Mona Myers Lamptey, while Helen Appah recorded a 71 net  to win the ladies Group B event.
The pros event saw Emmanuel Osei emerging tops with a 68 gross by beating Vincent Torgah on count back with John Mawuli coming in third place with a 71 gross to pick special cash prizes.
Helen Appah distinguished herself by delivering a hole in one in the ladies closest to the pin with Godwin Asem picking the men’s event.
Werner added a consolation to her prize by lifting the ladies longest drive prize while Teye Lartey Gbebie won the men’s event.

 

The event which drew a large following was in honour of Felix Owusu Adjapong, former Energy Minister on his 72nd birthday and 45 years in marriage.

Executive Chairman of Zipnet Ghana, an internet service provider, Osei Owusu Korkor described his company’s decision to support the 18-Hole event as their responsibility to support the development of golf in the country.

The birthday celebrant thanked golfers who came from far and near to support the event.
