Don’t drink Kalyppo – Chief of Staff

Former President Kufuor sipping his Kalyppo

The Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has called on the electorate to stay away from the fruit juice Kalyppo since its sugar content is unhealthy for the human body.

According to him, the drink was meant for kids and not adults because of its high sugar concentration.

“I am pleading with you that you the adults here if you take Kalyppo, the sugar content can leave you with some sickness so please don’t take it,” Mr. Debrah told NDC supporters at Wenchi in the Brong Ahafo region where he is campaigning for President John Mahama ahead of the December polls.

A ‘selfie’ with Kalyppo became a social media craze especially among members of the New Patriotic Party after their flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo was seen sipping the drink during a campaign.

Subsequently, leading members of the party including former President John Kufuor and the party’s acting chairman Freddie Blay have been spotted in public sipping the child-targeted product.
