Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah claims he is not focusing on coaching the Black Stars as he begins his coaching course this year.

The former Juventus midfielder says he will need experience before considering the head coach role of the Black Stars in the near future.

“I will be starting my coaching course very soon. I have already registered to take part in the course. Well, my focus is not on becoming coach of the Black Stars,” he told Fox FM.

“You know I don’t rush in doing things in my life that’s why little by little I have thrived. Even if I get my coaching license, I’m not thinking about the Black Stars.

“The U17, U20 and other junior teams are there so I will have to gain experience to grow in my coaching career. It’s not easy to coach the Black Stars because it is very different from playing.”

Appiah, 35, played 67 matches for Ghana and scored 14 goals.

He captained Ghana to their first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance in 2006.
