Rawlings’ office cautions event organisers

The office of former President Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings has cautioned all persons, institutions and political groups to desist from publicizing or producing marketing materials announcing his participation at events without prior written approval.

A terse statement issued Friday by the Communications Directorate of the former president’s office and signed by Mr. Kobina Andoh Amoakwa also informed the general public “that the former President has not accepted an invitation to Saturday’s campaign launch of the NDC Parliamentary candidate for Ashaiman” near Tema.

The caution follows a similar one at the beginning of August in which the office cautioned against the publication on social media platforms of computer generated political party graphics and flyers using the image of the former President with accompanying campaign slogans.

On that occasion, President Rawlings’ office had cautioned those producing the party materials “to desist from such unethical practice at this crucial period.”
