Court remands two over possession of narcotic drugs

An Accra Circuit Court has remanded Alex Donkor, a driver, and Nana Asamoah Amissah, a contractor, into police custody for an alleged possession of narcotic drug without lawful authority.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty and they would reappear in court on Monday, October 10.

Superintendent of Police Kweku Bempah told the court that the complainants in the case were the crew members of the East Legon Police Patrol Team.

He said on September 21, the patrol team had information that some people were dealing in narcotic drugs at the American House, East Legon in Accra.

He said the patrol team went to the location and arrested Donkor, together with others in a room.

He said a search conducted on him revealed 25 pieces of whitish substance in silver foil wraps, suspected to be narcotic drugs.

In a related development, the team visited a drinking spot in the same area, where Nana was arrested.

He said a search conducted at the spot revealed 24 pieces of whitish substances in silver foil wrap suspected to be narcotic drugs.
