The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has not been able to decide on a running mate to its flagbearer, Dr. Edward Mahama.
This is in spite of Dr. Mahama revealing via his social media handle that he was going to announce his running mate today [Wednesday] at the party’s headquarters.
Due to the failure to settle on a name, a subcommittee had been put in place to assess the 3 potential candidates.
The party’s NEC met today at the PNC headquarters but could not settle on one of the shortlisted persons. They are expected to complete their work my by September 3.
Ahead of the polls in in December, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) remain the only traditionally prominent political parties to have named their running mates.
The PNC and the Ivor Kobina Greenstreet led-Convention People’s Party are yet to select a running mate. The PPP’s Dr. Nduom has also named a female as his running mate.
