Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy get nominations at IRAWMA

Two of Ghana’s biggest dancehall acts, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, have been nominated for some categories in this year’s International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA).

Stonebwoy is going against the likes of Skip Marley, Alborosie, Franko and Major Mujah in the ‘Most Promising Entertainer’ category.

Shatta Wale’s ‘Chop Kiss’ is competing with selfie [Koffi Olomide – Congo], Ololufa [Flavour ft Chidinma – Nigeria], Final [Wizkid – Nigeria] and Sape comme jamais [Maitre Gims – Congo] for the ‘Best African Song’ award.

The IRAWMA was established in 1982, with a mission to acknowledge and honor the accomplishment and contributions of reggae and world music artistes, including songwriters, performers and promoters.

It was founded by Ephraim M. Martin, who is also the founder of The International Festival of Life (IFOL, the Chicago Music Awards (CMA) and the Caribbean Festival/Jamaica Independence Celebration (CAF/JIC).
